The first generation is cordierite mullite plate which is thick & heavy and max temperature is low, better below 1250℃. And 2nd generation is OSiC plate which is thinner with higher temperature upto 1450℃ and with better thermal conductivity.

In fact, the Chinese market skipped NSiC because 2 reasons. 1st reason  is the main reason which is the cost. NSiC shelves are high cost till now compared with other materials. The 2nd reason is only a few factories are able to make NSiC, less than 3 factories that can provide qualified NSiC products. So, considering most factories don't have this technique, they chose to make SiSiC which is much more cheaper.

Well, SiSiC shelves have very obviously disadvantages like temperature lower than 1380℃, there's Si separating problem and may cause bubbles. So, has to make alumina coating on the surface and the coating is not stable. Most important, SiSiC plates are extruded and cannot make bigger wideth, mainly wattles less than 200mm wideth. Some factories tried to make bigger boards and their cost is very high, even higher than NSiC.

After that, the SiSiC factories are developing their techniques and finally the SSiC plates presented in the market in one year time, 2024-2025. SSiC means pressureless sintering silicon carbide in full. And the differences from SiSiC is not only the sintering method, but also SiC content can be 99.5% and there's no SiO2 or very less. Thus the Si separating problem was solved and don't need alumina coating now. And working temperature reached upto 1600-1700℃. Thickness can reach to 2-3mm.

Well, this type of super thin & light weight SSiC kiln shelves also have their own disadvantages, for example, the wideth is less than 400mm and the shape is rectangular. So, there's no much sizes and shapes can choose. And the mould cost is high, moud changing is hard, so quantities are usually thousands each batch. If you want many sizes with very quantities, then cannot accept such orders at all. This SSiC kiln shelves are for big ceramic factories with thousands, ten thousands shelves application to reduce energy consumption, around 45%, maybe more.
